Back somewhat belatedly from a soirée... good to find a K waiting Puzzling too... the only character from a 19th century opera I can think of who made things was Hans Sachs from Mastersingers... but can't think of any Ks to connect with anything else.

Who else makes things in an opera? Puppet-makers in Tales of Hoffmann perhaps...

Yes, Wagner it is. Not quite...you are looking for K which was made by, as well as the other two mentioned, someone who 'sounds' like a Wagnerian character.
