It's got a 'u' in it mercs, as has Australia

He may well have been, but the chap I have in mind arrived in Berlin the year Wagner died.
I note with interest the word 'educational' in an earlier posting, which suggests to me that you may well be on the right track. Cecil Sharp is the collector.
