Cricket's gone dull, temperature's dropped so I have to close the patio door, so I'm going to make a pot of tea & settle down to epi 9 (at least) of The Bridge
It's OK mercs, we'll wait for you to return!!
I have to admit, I'd never heard of Shelly Manne and was looking for classical crossover ..... Cloughie, how was your torch experience? Lots of spectators, enjoyable?

See you in a while
You really do need to do both Eps back to back!
Anna - have you Bridged yet? Norfy?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Not as yet, to be honest I'm so tired today I don't think I've the energy to concentrate and I do want to do both episodes in one go. If I perk up I may watch later this evening. In fact, I'm so tired that cooking has been put on hold and I'm just going to have ......... cheese omelette & salad! Your review of Prince Albert was a bit half-hearted, was the food good or was it just a drinks party?
to link Streetwise Shelly Shelly Manne, played in Trio with Previn recording a jazz version of My Fair Lady. (On th Street(wise) where you live) merc
a smart cookie's mate Ernie Wise's mate Eric norfy
Mamma Mia Farrow the ex Mrs Previn merc
A smart cookie could be referred to as a wise-guy! Morecambe as a mate of Wise would surely qualify!
Vints, we know you don't do popular culture but I think cloughie is alluding to the sketch on the Morecombe & Wise show when Andre Previn appeared and he conducted and Eric played the piano. I am not sure if this was his only appearance on the M&W show?
No - he appeared briefly in a later show as a London bus conductor, saying something along the lines of 'Yes! Look what Morecambe and Wise did for my career'!

In my defence, it was some big boys that did it!! Yes, I never watched Coronation Street until Norfy and Caliban were going on about Colin Fishwick and I just had a peep at the programme .... to see what they found so interesting ....... and that was my downfall Your Honour!
