Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie, film directed by Luis Buñuel, you must have seen it? A classic.

      Odd Buñuel fillum: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dis...he_Bourgeoisie
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Snip snap. The film didn't do it for me.... went to see it in the late 70s/early 80s though, with a bunch of like-minded earnest modern linguists. Might view it differently now.

Le charme discret de mercia is a very different matter

I saw it a couple of years ago when I was going through a phase ......... but, Le charme discret de mercia ... Vraiment, mon cher!! Nothing quite like it. Actually, don't bother with Buñuel .... unless you want nightmares

I love the background chat on this board, however that is all there is likely to be if I set a C as I shall be away from the PC until late, if anyone would wish to set one I am happy for this to happen.

I'll do a very silly C but need to be away in a couple of hours

Ooh, said Gossamer Beynon, I don't care if he is .............. as long as he is all hooves and cucumbers, but I'll blow my trumpet for him

Some think he's a Cowboy, but he do have a Spring in his step but I'm not so sure about his Labour supporting quadroped

                What C
                am I?
Edit: I think I was foolish to offer to post, everyone must be eating shortly and not word perfect re Dylan Thomas, I'll look in around 7.30 and then every half hour. Clue to get this done and dusted: It's one of Rob Cowan's faves ........... according to Cali. Just the single answer

Excellent, something fun from Anna... Cowboys, Spring and Rob Cowan make me think of Copland and Rodeos and the Appalachians but I can't think how that could impinge on Under Milk Wood...

                  Little digging required...

Common? As in Common man.. Fanfare... Copland... etc etc?

“GOSSAMER BEYNON: I don’t care if he is common

SECOND VOICE: she whispers to her salad-day deep self,

GOSSAMER BEYNON: I want to gobble him up. I don’t care if he does drop his aitches,

SECOND VOICE: she tells the stripped and mother-of-the-world big-beamed and Eve-hipped spring of her self,

GOSSAMER BEYNON: so long as he’s all cucumber and hooves."

Oh mercia ....... you are a cutie!!
Yes Caliban, the Gossamer was a reference to Copland, Fanfare for the Common Man. No, admit it, is this the first time you have read about Gossamer, did you continue to the little ginger man in the brown paper bag? So, you just need a cowboy with a spring and a four legged friend ...
