Nice poser, expertly unravelled. I was (and actually still am) nowhere on this puzzle. I am hoping for a full "Anna's Law" statement of the solution and connections!

Oh! I was looking at Sir Alwyn Williams, the Geologist who had a building named after him which is an extention of the Queen Margaret Buildings at Glasgow University.
