I'm not offering anything. I am sure some would want this object sacrificing, but I wouldn't.

Now where was it that a wolf snapped up a duck, musically speaking? I have got to hurry you as I have to go to a lecture soon and will be off-line for a few hours.

    The "plate" is not culinary.

I was thinking more of a Musical Offering (Prom 1985) or an Offering in Church which could on a plate or not!

I thought vints said it was Peter and the Wolf, which was performed at First Night of the Proms in 1948 it seems, does that get us further forward?

This blessed duck/wolf thing - Peter and the Wolf, the duck had foolishly left the pond in her excitement... That's where.

well I suppose you could say the action takes place outdoors

and an oboe plays a leading role

            it happens in an orchestra

I think I may have it...

The duck is played by the oboe.

The oboe with its tuning A opens any Prom (or any other) concert...

              Is it oboe?

              N

Whoops - crossed posts. Yes, the Oboe.

It was a specific Proms opener I was wanting. Every concert starts with an oboe A

And why the plate? (this is a technical question)

[edit] - I see Vinny has it on a plate - the Conservatoire or English systems of oboe

What, like the principal of the Berlin Phil might have some poncey gold-plated oboe, you mean?

When I said to be quick I did not expect a torrent...

Any ideas on the specific opener? Fairly recent?
