    With a sharp elbow into his well-lunched stomach and one final heave, CB gains entrance with "This fucking lady!"

    Of course!

    Frenchie doesn't police this precinct any more does she... I think she's left the badlands to the locals. You'll be fine

        There is also the story (which I so hope to be true) of a production in the '60s upon which the curtain opened to reveal an enormous sculpture of an erect phallus. Stunned silence from the audience broken by the unmistakable tones of Coral Browne to her companion: "Nobody we know, dear!"

          Carl Nielsen: Fantasy Pieces for Oboe & Piano;
          Richard Wagner: Fantasie in f# minor for Piano;
          Frank Bridge: PHantasie Trio in c minor.

          Hmm; the last looks a trifle dodgy!

              Fudge!

              (NOT a suggested answer, by the way!)

              .... unless, of course, it is the correct answer!)

                        Ah! A Bridge too Far, perhaps? (Or am I just getting Over the Hill?)

                          Actually; not getting very far with this. There's a Frank Bridge song Far, far from each other ... and that's it!

                              It was Peter Brook's Oedipus in 1968. This from the Evening Standard:

                              'Brook's 1968 Old Vic staging of Seneca's Oedipus plumbed the sexual darkness of incest as Oedipus (John Gielgud) slept with his mother, Jocasta (Irene Worth), and put his eyes out as a self-punishment. His mother committed suicide, impaling herself on a downstage pyramidal spike. At which point Brook upended the tragedy by bringing on a massive phallus, followed by a New Orleans jazz band playing "Yes, we have no bananas'."

                              The Coral Browne story is corroborated in many places. I also hope it's true!
