Bali it is.... for all the reasons you say... almost. Actually, I had in mind Debussy's "Pagodes" from his 'Estampes' but the Britten ballet was an alternative 'on the card'

Nice try, Flay. That'll teach you to swan around with Mrs F in a constant chase after pleasure and self indulgence.

I know you must secretly love to see the smile on her face after a particularly deft deployment of the Flay family credit card

              Okely-dokely .....

What C links…. A musician who inspired Malcolm to write dextrously

A musician and lecturer whose endeavours led to a local East Anglian music festival becoming an important
and significant influence on English musical life.

A musician, writer and poet who wrote a tone poem for a disastrous event that is currently being celebrated

Yes, I get it! But why did FHG not want to give the answer ?!?!

Anyway I was never one for teasing....

                        We're talking Cyril aren't we?

Cyril Smith was one of the dedicatees (with Phyllis Sellick) of Malcolm Arnold's three-hand piano concerto having lost the use of his left arm

Cyril Scott wrote a tone poem about the Titanic disaster...

I can't find the East Anglian music festival connection

                            CUMS

But not a Cyril among 'em... "In 1843 the Cambridge University Musical Society (CUMS) was established, and gradually built a splendid tradition of concert-giving. The founders of CUMS included John Bacchus Dykes, William Thomson and John A. L. Airey"

Lawdy I'm sure that that nice Mr Sherbourne wouldn't have this much trouble interrogating a database like google, Calibs

                              Try googling CUMS Cyril

                                Ah, indeed.

                                Cyril Rootham!

I am somewhat pressed at the moment.... I guess this means I have the D?

A quickie: which D is a common theme between Karl Goldmark, Albert Coates and Dominick Argento?

I shall endeavour to superintend faithfully but forgive occasional silences....
