                            Yes... I must needs proceed very gingerly.

                            Henze's Tristan uses tapes. Messiaen's 'trio' comprises three works inspired by the Tristan legend, Harawi, Turangalila and Cinq Rechants. I'm not sure if the Tristan myth is particularly urban, at least not in Wagner's eyes, and I'm also a bit stuck on the cruel stories. Is this anything to do with Thomas Mann whose novella of the same name is set in a mental asylum? Now my mind clouds, I feel I could be going back there imminently...

                              Perhaps if I'd said "Contes cruels2 and "Legendes Urbaines" it might've been clearer?
