Could it be about a piece that needs two conductors, like Birtwhistle's Theseus Game? Just thinking out loud.

Meantime, my best regards to Mrs Flay and wishes for rapid relief from her back problems.
    Thanks, Caliban

      Thanks, Caliban
Just the one name but the spelling of one differs slightly.

In a sense, I'm relieved that it wasn't so straightforward!

Is it a surname beginning with K that we're looking for - or a forename (like Karl Richter, Karl Münchinger and Curly Kahl? )

I've fallen straight into your trap, haven't I! "Baton" doesn't refer to conductors, mesuspects?

It is conductors, both now deceased.

Just to let you know, I've been cogitating about this all morning!

Are the pair Herbert von Karajan - Robert Kajanus ?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

There is only one K and a minor difference in spelling, one letter difference, sound the same.

A K to link two batons and a plant!
I've been wondering too (given the chance) - why the exclamation mark, and is this plant a steelworks, or an object placed surreptitiously in order to cause suspicion to fall upon a person? Or are we talking snooker?

No significance to the exclamation mark, perhaps I should have put Plant. I was maybe robbing you of a clue!

Not striking any gold there Cal - reminds me of a comment from Andre Previn regarding Korngold's film music beiing more corn than gold.

All those chocolate eggs that Ammie warned me about!

                                I have

Clemens Krauss, Richard Kraus, and "country/bluegrass superstar", Alison Krauss (who raised sand with "Rock god" Robert Plant).
