La Vie de Brian is simply as good as film comedy gets, one of my top 6 without a shadow...

    Mmmmmm.... o.k. then.

An M s.v.p. to connect Daphnis, Theseus and Venus among others.
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Sorry to keep you waiting, kept looking but missed that earlier.

Certainly all mythological characters but that's not the M... This puzzle like part of the previous one has a French accent...

if I'm right, Jean-Joseph de Mondonville (1711-1772), Venus et Adonis (1752), Daphnis et Alcimadure (1754), Thesee (1765)
you'll have to make do without accents http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Joseph_de_Mondonville
his rosey cheeks go well with his blue wig

Well done, mercia! Yes! Jean-Joseph Cassanéa de Mondonville, to give him his rather splendid full name, whose 300th anniversary last Christmas day went unmarked as far as I know

It was the Porpora comment that prompted me, actually mercia - thought you'd like another obscure one Actually I know more Mondonville than Porpora: this is a gorgeous record, for example http://www.prestoclassical.co.uk/r/B...Classics/93906

An N to start the day, sir?

being a rather shallow sort of chap, I like my baroque to have trumpets and drums. does Jean-Joseph ever employ them?

              anyway.......

I took my time checking the spelling of the 'N' word! An 'O' coming shortly.

                        Which 'O' links:
Somebody who prefers peace to war; a controversial drama critic; a railway junction; Brighton Pier; and a number about a politician's wife?
                        All elements are musical.
