From my earlier thread, I endorse scotty's comment there:

I have let the council know. They avoid giving out telephone numbers so I tried on-line. Good job the road sweeper did not break the cables!!! At first I tried to contact Wiltshire County Council's "Clarence" Service (the silly name they call the complaints service for road problems) and discovered I was talking to a lady in Scotland who cried "Clarrence Herre!!" with strongly RRolleds r's. Apparently most town councils communicate on road matters through Edinburgh City Council who now handle such calls. You could not make this up though it makes a change from call-service lines to India or Thailand. She eventually gave me the number of a local person.....

I have filled in an E Form for Virgin Media and Duct-Taped the remains of the box and wires to the building.

Thanks, Anna and Caliban, for setting my mind at rest. The thought of having to get involved with the Murdochs' empire was filling me with horror.

I hope they are going to change the name
as its no longer "Virgin" as its well and truly F***ked

(and I wish they would stop bombarding me with junk mail that they make technically NOT junk as it's addressed to "The Occupier"......... never liked Virgin since Tangerine Dream left them !)

My main Virgin Media connection has been down for several hours. Seems it is a problem in many other areas, too. Currently, relying on 'smartphone'. Room now made in PM inbox.

Virgin Media connection now restored but at less then half the download speed I pay for.
