Are you asking me? What's that got to do with Elgar's 'Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis'?

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

What a lovely word - serioualy - that's my first neologism for 2012.

I agree with ahinton that all this is rather silly, to say the least, but, in these dire times, we need things to make us snigger and we can certainly rely on The Sun for that ...

I'm not sure which is more remarkable or newsworthy, Nick Clegg being furious with the French, or the UK being officially declared 'worthless', but. oh, the delicious ironies ...

OK, maybe, but surely we didn't need a French finance minister to point that out, did we?...

It's still 2011, actually - and, in any case, since it was obvious that she mean "serially", why make such a big deal of it? After all, I didn't correct Caliban when he wrote "Thomas Tallis" when most of us know that he meant "Thomas Weelkes", did I?

No, no, it's not a joke - it's WRONG! Vaughan Williams wrote Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis. And people complain about dumbing down on Radio 3 .

I still can't help wondering what it would have sounded like had Thomas Tallis been able to write a Fantasia on a Theme of Vaughan Williams, though...

According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

Mind you, bearing in mind that cheeky little ending, one can't 'elp remembering that the patriotic, lusty-lunged M. Jean Noté was, in fact, A Famous Belgian ...
