I'm not sure why you find that article so hilarious, Scotty. Is it that the British Army rejected Mr. Rowe, and that he then went on to serve with distinction in the Foreign Legion?
All armed forces have their strict entry criteria, but in the case of the Legion I think that they are initially less selective, and the training then weeds out anyone who is not up to the job. Just to get through that training is a considerable achievement.
Please explain the joke, if there is one......Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.

What a pity you can't see any humour in it ... but, do forgive me, I'm still laughing ...

It's still not funny though.Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.

Mr Pee, sir, I have to confess that I have some sympathy for you in your current humourless predicament.
Many a time I've found myself in exactly the same position as you do now, even, heaven forbid, on this very Forum.
For example, the expression 'cheese-eating surrender monkeys' as a term for our nearest neighbours, is not a quip that has found me rolling on the floor in quite uncontrollable mirth. I readily admit to having completely missed its apparent hidden subtlety.
However, I'm not aware that anyone is demanding that you or I find anything posted here as particularly hilarious, even if it happens to contain a headline featured in The Daily Mail ...

according to establishment mouthpiece Wikipedia, the US accounts for 40% of world arms sales.
If the US doesn't have the finest forces, in all respects, their top luantics, sorry, bankers puppets, sorry politicians ought to be asking difficult questions !!I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
I am not a number, I am a free man.
