would you want this on your mantelpiece at Christmas?

It's the Union Flag face-paint that seems completely incongruous - even if the photograph was taken during a royal wedding street party.

Actually I think photographs of oneself & one's family on christmas cards are completely naff & inappropriate, even if they aren't as grotesque as this one.

Totally agree Flossie, when I saw the cards from Dave, Ed and Nick I thought that Cleggie's Christmas drawing by his children on his card was lovely, basic and simple, (no sniggering at the back) the Milibands was too much Happy Families and had a faintly American whiff about it and the Cameron's was, well, as you say Naff to the extreme. And where is Baby Flo?

There is a whole psychology of Christmas cards (i.e. if you send one which is a solitary Robin you want to be loved, sheep in a snowy lane at dusk mean you're a loner, etc., etc.)

What's wrong with it?? Oh, I know. It's got a hint of nationalism about it. Can't have that can we?

Perhaps the litle chap should have had the EU flag as face paint instead........

I think there is a link to a mp3 download where the girl sings
                  "tomorrow belongs to me"

Any facepaint would be incongruous - there Dave is, all dressed up in what looks like a morning suit, as is mini-Dave, yet mini-D has a design painted on his face? Either it's a nice informal family snap (still a tad egocentric on a Christmas card), or a picture taken at a formal occasion.

But P misses the Point, as usual.

You can have it if you want it, I suppose - but why would anyone want "a hint of nationalism" on a Christmas card? - especially British nationalism on Christmas cards, since such cards and associated commercialism notwithstanding, Christmas is supposed at least in part to remember abd celebrate the birth of a Middle Eastern prophet.

I occasionally buy that bunch of harlequin tulips from Tescos. Otherwise, no identification with it whatsoever.

The left hand side is very nice indeed. I'd probably cut it out & keep it in my wallet.

Those aren't his children, surely? The boy is too old and somehow I don't think Cameron's son would have that haircut.......
