Ferret, friends of mine who live near Hampstead Heath tell me there was an unfortunate incident not long ago where a dog walker "pack" reverted to being wolves and set upon a small but valuable dog and tore it to pieces......

That sounds fine Lat. A lot of operators use vans, it's quite commercial.

        A cheery tale, Richard...

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

          Mr Pee

I don't keep ferrets myself, but I handle them frequently at the Zoo, and when I was a child in the country my uncle kept them to catch rabbits. In this he was no more successful than his small terrier, who usually got stuck halfway into the ground.
The trick is to put nets over all the exits from the burrow except one, and the ferret goes down wearing a muzzle and chases the rabbits out. In uncle Ern's case there were very few rabbits in evidence, and the ferret usually disappeared, so that hours went by trying to get it back!

Mustelids are probably the most successful group of mammals on the planet, they can be found in one form or another in every habitat except Antarctica.

... (and, I have learnt from the Attenboro' polar series: ) - one of them has the best name in the animal kingdom - the Least Weasel...

Three cheers for the least weasel

Well, Least Weasel is a pretty good name.... but I think the Dik-Dik Antelope tops it.....

I loved the way they made little duvets for themselves out of the fur of their prey.....

This is all getting very anthropomorphic !
                        so

Which would and which wouldn't you eat ?

along the lines of if "god" had intended us to be vegetarians he wouldn't have made ducks taste so nice !

(I will delete this if you find it offensive !)

I can see the point in not eating end-predators and major carnivores but most of the rest is fair game, I think

I've never eaten duck in my life and never will.I think of the cute little creatures my kids used to love feeding when they were younger.

Some partial vegetarians will not eat anything that loved its mother.

How on earth can you be a "partial" vegetarian ?
