    are you a codebreaker?

    GCHQ needs help

GCHQ is trying to recruit new spies by asking social network users and bloggers to crack an online code.

where does one begin? only ten days, and counting, left

"anyone who [has] previously hacked illegally [will] be ineligible"

How long before the answer is being plastered all over Facebook?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

One of the people I knew who worked for GCHQ used to get his 18 year old son to buy him pints. The pint would be drunk before the son had got his change from the money he handed to the barman. Then he would have to buy another pint for his father and so it would go on through the "session".

The guy in question also expected his son to drink beer as quickly as he did, declaring that he was soft for not being able to do so, and he was on 80 cigarettes a day. I believe he died in his early 50s from the effects of both alcohol and smoking.

(This was Yorkshire - they are not all in Cheltenham!)
