I was in two minds whether to flag up his passing...his heyday (if it could be called that) was very brief and most theatregoers only have an awareness of his most famous play (Tom & Viv), but his 'African' plays were of topical, if not enduring interest, so I thought I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.
