That Jayne Lee wants to be careful posting stuff like that on a board with this kind of demographic !!

anyway, once the people and cats were sorted I would save

my family snaps, (poor quality and random though they are)

my montage of the day my son was the team mascot at Southampton.

my albums by "The Sound" and the Undertones.(and my sons bands's EP)

The piano. (theoretically), and my joan Gilchest painting.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

Traditionally, you're only allowed two things. In which case, my guitar and one of the twins.

One of the twins? The Aphex Twins? You do realise there was only one of them?

Eh, what...? Twins, kids, clones... did I miss something here?
I thought Pilchardman was invoking a version of Sophie's Choice. But - the guitar...?

My choice seems almost compassionate by comparison. Boots have souls too y'know.
OK OK, coat on, sprinting down the road...

S-A - you did the right thing.

They had Wagner operas too. I had several of both sets - Shostakovich plus Wagner. I think the Shostakovich was a better buy though.

I don't really have twins. I have two daughters of different age. But the gag works better with twins.

(Twins aren't clones of one parent, btw, Anna! Except for the Boys from Brazil...)

I've noticed you never rave about specific performances, 3VS

                              Which recording?

It would have to be the Mahler No.2 LSO/Solti that cost me £3.12.4d the day after I 'accidently' heard the finale of the piece on a 3rd program Prom relay. It would have been 1966/7.

It introduced me to Mahler, and changed my life.

A few years later I had tickets for Solti conducting the Resurrection at the RFH. Imagine my disappointment when it was announced that Solti was 'indisposed' and some upstart called Claudio Abbado was replacing him. It was the best concert I've ever attended.

                              No other recording comes close.......

I'm getting a few ideas. Hmmm, my DVD of Abbado doing Mahler 5 with Lucerne; Handley/RVW Symphonies etc; Handsley/Bax Symphonies; Colin Davis Walton Symphony 1; Britten/?? Beethoven??
