    Happy Birthday to...

Benjamin Britten (who would be 98 if he were still with us), Stephen Hough, and, I gather, Edward Gardner, all of whom were clever enough to be born on St Cecilia's Day.

Now why did I expect you to post this?(!)...

Incidentally, this day was also the birthday of Obrecht, Benda, W F Bach, Rodrigo and Schuiller, among others...

And Happy Birthday today to Ventilhorn, who seems to have left us for the time being.

I miss his wry sense of humour, interesting anecdotes about his life as an orchestral player, and later an Orchestral Manager. Get well/keep well; some of us need a bit of direction on these MBs to stay on topic and review concerts more.
