Kauto Star - what a horse

Surely only Arkle is his peer. Awesome performance by the old boy at Haydock yesterday .

A class act, superbly ridden by Ruby and produced in immaculate form by the Ditcheat operation.
Earlier in the week I was fortunate enough to have access to a short video piece which showed both him and Master Minded in training.
Both looked superb and Kauto beat MM by a long way - so when MM trotted up on Saturday the portents were good.
According to Mr Nicholls they have both returned safe and sound and with a good appetite.

The Waley-Cohens were gracious in defeat - it's going to be a fascinating rematch...

Couldn't agree more - and I was one of the doubters whose money was on Weird Al (where IS that 'doh' emoticon when you need it?). This was some training performance from Paul Nicholls and the re-match should indeed be fascinating.

Yes I certainly shed a tear or two. An eight length victory over what seemed to be a quality field.

I had an investment on Kauto to be placed which was 2-1 on Betfair and seemed good value.

It was one of those " pinch yourself " races for me . Is this really happening ? and then the growing sense of excitement and utter delight as one realised it was .

                Cheers mercia!

I generally don't 'get' horse-racing but that was pretty exceptional even to my eyes

Hearing mention of the name Waley-Cohen reminds me of this ...

It's been a good series so far

Can Kauto win the King George at Kempton on Boxing Day? Current odds are 4/1 and I'm tempted.

                    Me too, Petrushka.

Mind I haven't put on a bet since some blinding horse that I'd drawn in the office sweep came second in the Derby at 500-1!

                      First cousin to the jockey.

It's going to be an interesting re-match on Boxing Day, although these highly hyped races rarely go to plan...

for a reminder here is last year's event in which Kauto Star clouts a fence, Long Run has a dream run (no obstructions, challengers) and the going suited them both.

Kauto Star just has to be the greatest jumps horse in history - as well as netting me a nice pot of Christmas money. Sensational stuff and as exciting to watch as anything sport has to offer.
