Do you think it is time to have an English national anthem?

I'm often frustrated by the recognition that we English don't have an anthem we can truly call our own.

It's 'Land of Hope and Glory' for me, too. It instills pride that's lacking at the moment.

I'm all for England becoming Independent from the UK, having a Parliament where all the MP's represent English interests, and an anthem that we can be proud of.

Why wait for Wales and Scotland to break away? Let's be first in England.

N. Ireland has always belonged to the Republic, it's an illegal occupation and we will have to give it back at some point.

What about a competition between present day composers to write a new one, which would have to pass several stringent tests; approval by HM, singability, length, etc.???
