Being with others has always made me less sane. I think this applies to most people. They just don't realise it.

We had a power cut for 6 hours the night before last - 5.45pm until after I decided to pack it in and go to bed. Alone. No music. No internet. No reading (not enough light from tealights). Okay for one evening (I sang songs to myself ). I don't imagine my ancestors would have put up with that for too long.

[ I could OF (bbthth!) - if I'd been able to read: I bought new batteries for my camping lamp, just in case, yesterday]
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

The eclair joke is in my edition of the Dictionary.

I've a note of two links but both are now broken. One led to joke defintions to be found in the work, the other a page where the inventive could submit their own.

              And mine.

Talking of racism, I took an (escalated) call at work one day:

              "Hello. You're speaking to John."

"Oh God. Another Scot. Can I not speak to somebody English?"

The caller was a Welsh woman.

Could this be a Jungian/ Myers Bbriggs (MBTI) 'introvert' speaking?? As one such I relate to the sentiment, whilst recognizing that about 50% of the world probably would not agree.

So not "most people" I think: just somewhere close to half (most of the time...).

'Most people' are not like me, and it's very dangerous when I start to think they all should be. A key Myers Briggs apercu!
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

Yes - INFJ - The Protector - in all four tests I have taken. The rest is a very mixed bag:

                  Sun - Sagittarius (Confident/Foolhardy)
                  Moon - Virgo (Anxious/Neurotic)
                  Ascendant - Aquarius (Bizarre/Original)
                  Mercury - Capricorn (Sceptical/Serious)

Chinese - Tiger - (The Sensitive)
Celtic Druid - Fig Tree (The Sensible)
                  Birthstone - Turquoise (The Creative)
Divine Colour - Maroon (The Instinctive)
Divine Number - Four (The Manager)

I can't tell who is being sarcastic or ironic here, but I take it we all realise Myres Briggs is utter nonsense?

I am not so sure. I was born on a Tuesday and am full of grace. There is definitely a lot of truth to these things.

Ah right, scotty - the usual intellectual rigour (or do I mean rigor?)
