Palindromic date

Today, 11/11/11, is the first properly palindromic date for a while (excluding such manufactured ones as 01/11/10). The next I think will be 12/11/21. Not sure when the last one was.

Apart from Haydn's "Palindrome" symphony no 47, is there any other suitably palindromic music to commemorate this event?

The Allegro misterioso from Berg's Lyric Suite. The central movement of Webern's Piano Variations (a lot of palindromic phrasing in the second movement of the Symphony, too).

Robert Simpson's 9th quartet: it consists of the palindromic theme from the minuet of Haydn's 47th Symphony, followed by 32 palindromic variation movements and a fugue. Simpson apparently said that it's easy to write a palindromic movement, you just write the first half and the second half writes itself

And it might not even sound like it. Thats because everything is backwards! Not just the notes. The cressendos, slurring, lenghts off notes etc.

Yes, 30/11/03 seems to be the last one we had - thanks, fhg. I had been thinking of 10/11/01. The last 8-digit palindromic date was presumably 12/11/1121.

Haydn 101 may not be a date but it does have a clock.

I'm pretty sure there are palindromes in Ockeghem - but Waitrose calls and I can't stay to research...

Wouldn't 21/11/12 be next? After which I believe we would have to wait for your 12/11/21 - though I'm not so sure it is right to exclude leading zeros, so 02/11/20 should count IMO.
