You're Controller R3: what are the first and last things you'd do?

I'd love to hear more OE and ME on R3: how about a series of Chaucer Tales read in ME? Why not make a BIG thing out of the whole Medieval LIt field, plus choice bits of OE?

... and (for want of a better term) "pre-English": Y Gododdin in the language we now call Cymraeg!
And too, to aeolium's suggestion of online running translations of non-English texts - on the i-Player f'rinstance: innovate with the technology!


Oh, and on Wednesday, I'd "negotiate" with the Head of R1 to let the excellent Stuart Maconie to feature a regular(-ish) Classical piece on that fair Channel: far more influential at introducing that audience to R3 repertoire I'd've thought than hoping they'll stray over the airwaves to hear a few "old" people waffling on about how Beethoven's Moonlight brings back memories of holidays in Scarborough in the 1950s?
