I think 95 is okay. Except the happy finale. should have stuck with a minor key one.

I forgot no.104 mvt 3 which is ubercool.

And I think I remember liking no.92 Oxford but I don't have it.

I agree Salymap, Papa Haydn hits the spot every time for an uplifting symphonic experience! The Oxford No 92 is one of my favourites for its gentle, spirited lyricism.

With the high profile of 44 today and in honour of the first Lady - I thought I'd look again at this thread and was amazed how long ago this was. At the time I wasn't a lover of these symphonies and this thread brought me to them - wonderful - the top 15 were

A word too for no 60 (Il Distratto) which is being played in Po3 tonight - I recommend those who don't know it to listen as it is one of the oddest Haydn symphonies and has quite a few surprises along the way.

Well, as an afterthought, perhaps that's a slight exaggeration, but I do prefer some of his earlier ones.
