There was both a TV film and a radio programme about Brookwood some time ago. The place is very atmospheric and well worth a visit.

My thoughts precisely - but then, you might expect somebody with a name like that to blow off from time to time....

Put it down to my old age ─ whatever "blow off" means in your vocabulary.

A ventilhorn is a horn which has valves; as opposed to a waldhorn which is a horn without valves. (Where is Waldhorn, by the way?)

So how do I free up my stuck tuning slide ?
soaking in WD40 and gentle heat ?
or take it to Paxmans ?

So a shofar is a waldhorn?

but this man is a god of alphorn (which isn't a waldhorn either !)

An extract from INLAND, a musical film by Pierre-Yves Borgeaud with Swiss duo Stimmhorn: Balthasar Streiff (alphorns), Christian Zehnder (voice) Production...

and the final horn thing for the day is this !

Only Hoffnung thought there was an alphorn in the work you appear to be alluding to.

                    I wasn't alluding to any work ?
but Balthasar Streiff is certainly amongst the best
