I hope this will help. Enjoy.

If that's unfair, then why aren't you recruiting support for your organisation from a large pool of people who are 100% on board with your goals, objectives, and stated agenda? Frankly, your complete lack of interest in extending your reach among those one would think would be your natural allies makes FoR3 look like a bit of a vanity project. Or perhaps it's that you find a lot of the R3/Wright-bashing that passes for rational argument around here embarrassing? Can't say I blame you. And surely you don't think anyone is buying your line about the R3 Forum being a beacon of impartiality.
Maybe if you put more effort into learning how to communicate with the media effectively, this wouldn't be as much of a problem for you.
There are times when your contributions have been very helpful as they have provided a different perspective on topics under discussion. However, this posting seems gratuitously unpleasant, not to say nasty. It also seems to be based on a lack of understanding of how this forum came into existence.
The BBC announced that the Radio 3 message boards were going to be disbanded at fairly short notice. FF and Mark hurriedly got this forum up and running, hoping that it would provide a new 'home' and a place to continue the discussions that had taken place on the Radio MBs. I believe that FF decided to keep this forum separate from FoR3 as far as possible as, although some people from the old MBs were supporters, there were a number who were decidedly sceptical about FoR3 and wouldn't want to be associated with it.
If users of the forum wish to join FoR3 they can do so but I think it is absolutely right for FF to avoid trying to make the forum a recruiting ground (especially as doing so would probably irritate, or possibly alienate, some of the contributors).

After going right through this thread several times this afternoon, I find myself at a loss in trying to figure out how French Frank's alleged "... complete lack of interest in extending [her? - or is out our?] reach among those one would think would be [her/our] allies" would make "FoR3 look like a bit of a vanity project"; or indeed why French Frank would seek to create such an impression.
And as for anyone thinking that anyone should want to buy French Frank's "line" about the R3 Forum being a beacon of impartiality, I would be grateful to be given any evidence that impartiality is or ever was a part of this particular forum's remit. French Frank neither stands back from controversy here; nor for obvious reasons does she police messages to permit only equal numbers of posts for or against any particular view; and she has herself put forward her own views on many thread topics, and probably disagreed with most of us at some point or other.

I find Cavatina's post totally, totally unacceptable (the last sentence re media relations is unforgiveable). Again & again Cavatina puts FF in the difficult position of being creator & administrator of this forum & recipient of vindictive, arrogant, strident personal criticism. So any action taken by her or impoliteness can look like revenge.
I don't think she will change or stop posting when the Proms are over. If FF feels a private formal warning, a period of a pre-moderation or temporary suspension of membership will take unfair extra pressure off her, help to keep threads on topic & the forum calm & friendly - she has my full support.
(doversoul - your posts on the C problem have been very good. Re the PhD, I think that's still to come - I vaguely recall that under a previous name she posted that she might offer to go to the LSE & let them award it to her)

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Cavatina is just as entitled to express her views as any other member of the forum as long as her posts abide by the house rules. She sometimes expresses opinions that go against the majority view but that can often be a good thing and is certainly no reason to penalise her.
As it happens I can think of at least one other user of the forum who is infinitely more of a trouble maker and is much more deserving of being banned. Not that I would advocate such action.
