I've recently had a surge of junk mail flooding my inbox. It's always gone to my junk box but most of this recent stuff is coming straight to my inbox.

I suspect that Facebook is implicated in this somehow but the good news is that the junk mail is very easy to spot (mostly telling me I've won a prize) so it all gets deleted but what a massive nuisance it all is!

If you use a Mac then I recommend SpamSieve which will pull spam into its own folder.

Just had one from BT Internet with the subject title: We Have Received 48 Complaints About Your E-Mail

This turns out to be a link to a final, final, final Last Warning renewal notice for my McAfee AV (which I don't have, in spite of the fact that I get daily reminders to renew - no matter what 'Rule' I add for direct removal from my email program.) Nothing for it, I suppose: I'm just going to have to renew it ...

NB BT Internet appears now to have relocated to Los Angeles, probably to avoid Trumpton tariffs.

I regularly receive the email reminder to "renew" my McAfee, the existence of which I have never in fact had. It usually comes around this time of the year; I was advised just to ignore it as a scam, which I do, so hopefully it will disappear from my inbox before too long.

CENTER would be enough to make me suspicious, as I'm sure BT know how it's spelt in the UK.
After trying everything else to stop such an automatic renewal (of Kaspersky in my case) I wrote an old-fashioned letter to their London office, which did the trick. McAfee have several offices in the UK.

I got a flood of spam emails in the run up to Christmas, over 100 in December alone, many of them of the McAfee variety. They got deleted, obviously, without being opened. There were slightly less in January then they tailed off completely by mid-February.

I never open these things as there's always the possibility of accidentally clicking on something dodgy.

When I can be bothered I check the headers to see the address the mail came from. BT are (allegedly) now using no-reply@watsons.recommendyourespond.site and are based in IP address Los Angeles. McAfee are using return@supproo.vuabida.vn and are based in IP New York City (possibly Trump Tower, then), late of Vietnam .
