    Tina Turner November 26, 1939 – May 24, 2023

An amazing performer - career built by her controlling husband Ike but really blossomed after she escaped from him. Saw her in concert at Cornwall Coliseum back in 1982 - a very memorable evening. RIP Tina

Central to the rise and development of Soul music and much loved - Tina will be hugely mourned.

Before Tina Turner was doubly inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, she heated up some tracks for Frank Zappa’s Mothers of Invention.

The stew delivery and distribution was later echoed when she donned an apron and served drinks to her fellow passengers on an air flight, according to a report during this morning's Women's Hour on Radio 4.
