Something today triggered a memory of this strip cartoon in the News Chronicle. Colonel Pewter was a stereotypical retired Colonel, with a housekeeper, named Mrs Aspic IIRC, who spoke with a bucolic accent well conveyed in her speech bubbles.
The colonel - more likely his gardener - found a neolithic man in his garden, frozen into a block of ice. After some months of hospitality, Pewter named him Glub and eventually appointed him butler.
The chronicle foled in 1960 but Colonel P and Glub kept me hugely entertained in my early teens. The name of the cartoonisb eludes me for the moment.
Anyone here a former fan?
