Vic Reeves on radio yesterday promoting tonight's 'Vic and Bob Big Night Out' .

'For four years I lived in a squat in London...then I stood up.'

He must have been in Crouch End, then.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

How do you put a sparkle in a soprano's eyes?
Shine a flashlight through her ears.

How do altos gain their strength?
From drinking the tears of a soprano who didn't get a solo.

There's something slightly sexist about these two ditties, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Depends on who's telling the joke (I'm an alto).

Or maybe ageist if dealing with young male singers.

But this thread is full of them - even if few are about singers!

Actually it was the second of the two I posted that I liked best, which is quite complicated. Both came from a FB discussion that included sops, mezzos and altos (but no trebles)

I've since discovered the first one pops up all over the place - sometimes about tenors.
