He gave up performing to concentrate on writing books, but he probably got a bit bored with that.

Thanks for drawing this important series to my attention. I missed it when it was first broadcast last year, and nearly missed it again. I well recall attending recoreding sessions for Lenin of the Rovers, and Mr. Sayle's "Don't blame me. I didn't write this rubbish". This after the warm up man had complained that we did not laugh loud and long enough during the previous episode. Hopefully this new series features Sayle's own writing.

... and doesn't the new, spruced-up Jezza look a bit like the new, dishevelled Jose Mourinho ... ?

Jose looks like Jezza! Are you having a laugh!

Her Gracious Majesty is, of course, quite above such petty plebeian politics.

That old 'Lieve' story depends on whether one believes an apparently thoroughly disloyal Michael Gove or not, alongside his other claim about £350m-a-week extra for the NHS.

Sadly, credibility is not exactly Mr Gove's strongest card ...

A German friend the other day joked that we have the German Royal Family Living in England in mouth watering luxury and all paid for by the British taxpayer. Some joke, but it's true!
