Good joke from Miles Jupp on 'I'm sorry I haven't a clue' this evening.

Lion goes into a restaurant. The waiter comes over.
'And what would sir like for starters?'
      'I'll have the salmon, please!'
      'And for the Main?'
      'I'll just have a comb.'

I heard the show, and that one was a classic joke, you could hear the audience getting it slowly, like ever bigger waves breaking on a beach.

I got it quite fast at the time, but just now it took a bit longer. I know nothing about Miles Jupp, but he sounds a very promising addition to the team.

I like him, ums. He was in Rev, and played Inventor Archie in Balamory, but when he's on panel shows he's always good value, in my opinion. He does a programme on R4 where he plays a posh food writer - it did transfer to TV but I thought it was much better on the radio.

He's the presenter of Tuesday evening's 6.30pm R4 show "It's not what you know" - next one tomorrow, the first two in the series available here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b036wvkd/episodes/guide It's not the most original format but he injects some sharp and subversive wit, and has become a bit of a favourite at Château Caliban.

(He was the sidekick curate to Tom Hollander's "Rev" on BBC TV, if you saw that)
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I also liked the joke Tim Brooke-Taylor attributed to the great Tommy Cooper.
The police caught two boys drinking battery acid and eating fireworks. They charged one but let the other one off.

Might the UKIP equivalent to this add in some consideration of whether said Mazda is capable of making the trip to Bongo-Bongo-Land? Time for a rename of that particular model, methinks...

I didn't get a Mazda - but I did buy a nice little machine today that goes from 0 to 150 in seconds.

Well, I've been meaning to replace my old bathroom scales for weeks.

I've got one of those, it ensures that no guests ever want to take a bath, saves a fortune in hot water.

                            I know a guy called 6 and 7/8ths.
When he was born his parents didn't know what to call him,so they picked a name out of a hat.
