This is a true story.

I once had a bike which became detached from one of its pedals on my way to work. I took the bus home, stopping off at cycle dealer, who wanted to sell me a new pair of pedals but just happened to have a spare old one which would fit. The next day I arrived at work with said pedal, to find that the bike had been stolen!!! My workmates asked me if the police were out looking for a one legged cyclist!

I went past a shoe shop in our high street (Hamilton Road) this morning and the same thought occurred to me. The lady wife was kind enough to tell me she found it mildly amusing.

Indeed, it was Shoe Zone - I assumed this was a company-wide promotion. As it happens, there's a Clark's directly opposite, the difference in prices being considerably greater than the distance between the two shop fronts. (The Old Factory Shop also sells shoes, albeit in a limited range of styles and sizes).
