It's really heart-warming to know that there are still people out there who know how to write a top-notch fugue.

Apparently Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities was originally serialised in two West Midlands newspapers.

It was the Bicester Times, it was the Worcester Times...

              Very good.
But, technically speaking, Bicester in the W Midlands?

Jo Brand on an old 'Would I lie to you' the other night: For my birthday my husband bought me a dress that was two sizes too small because he wanted me to lose weight. He said to me, 'I look forward to seeing you in it.' For his next birthday I bought him a coffin.

Also liked Victoria Coren Mitchell's joke on Only Connect last night...'I've got just over 1760 yards of paddy field', he said with a wry smile.'

(I wish I'd had the subtitles on at that point)

I guess the fugue kind-of trumps "O Ebenezer Prout, what a silly man you are" to the organ fugue of Bach's G minor Fantasy BVW 542, as it were.

From the BBC1 local news just now:

"It's been six weeks since businesses and homes in Finsbury Park were flooded by a major burst in the water supply. James Waterhouse reports".

The lovely churchwarden in Fishlake said that they'd been inundated with goods and offers of help.
