I read a wonderful story yesterday. The Queen had opened the new Forth Road Bridge at South Queensferry in 1963 which was duly reported on in the later edition of The Edinburgh Evening News. However, the police had to be dispatched to collect all of these newspapers owing to a spelling mistake.

'Her Majesty cut the ribbon on the new crossing before pissing over the bridge!'

Another gem from the 'you couldn't make it up' box of government jokes...
An Office for Talent is to be set up in No 10

This is in connection with the immigration plans revealed today. In the interests of accuracy I should say that I have taken this out of context - but only very slightly, both the name and the location are as announced.

Is that 'talent' in the sense of alluring young females?

Well it is needed - the only talents the cabinet seem to have is a massive combined ignorance of the real world, lying and polishing the soles of their shoes to get the maximum banana skin effect.

Well, to have one after the other might be seen stating an opinion, or influencing viewers.

The 9 o'clock start for the BBC4 programme in fact was a typo: it should have been 8 pm. Sorry about that - it doesn't completely ruin the juxtaposition of two so titled programmes at such proximity though, I hope.

No, indeed it doesn't: indeed, I cannot help but wonder if someone within BBC thought this one up and privately hoped that someone might notice...

Just now having personally watched both programmes, my linking of them seems to have transpired as an ineluctable coincidence, to go by the similarities, nay the parallels, between the two narratives: the connections (and the way they were portayed as creeping, crossing lines in both programmes), plottings, symbiotics, nepotisms, machiavellianisms. We've been knocking the Beeb recently, but this is most timely!

If you don't hear from me again, you'll know I've been "disappeared".
