Glad you liked the original joke though! (Seems a couple of months ago now!)

Do you think so? You may be right. OTOH, it could be said that six years is rather a long time even for such a Damascene conversion. I rather tend to the view that his stance on BREXIT may have something to do with his resignation, but of course I could be wrong too.

                      ... "self re-invention" is a great thing.

If you can carry it off.....

This, courtesy of a member in another place (which I'd not seen before he posted it) is more likely to be the source of the decision than either any sudden attack of conscience / sense of justice or indeed a stance on Brexit:

The Conservative politician announced his shock resignation last night, citing concerns over disability benefit cuts. However, a legal battle earlier this week has been cited as another possible explaination.

So far, it seems to have been played down on most media but there's no hiding place, of course, so we'll see how it plays out.

Ah. Indeed. I was of course aware that Universal Credit has been - to put it mildly - a complete MFU* since its inception. This from the article sums it up perfectly:

In particular, the DWP has projected that the Universal Credit scheme would be extended to 12 million claimants by 2017. However, figures suggest that a mere 200,000 have joined the scheme, which would represent a gross failure to meet the target.

I was however unaware of the court action.

                            * MFU - an abbreviation which I believe means "Monumental Foul Up".

IDS is preparing for the next venue.
