    Tax returns

    This programme on Radio 4.....

We answer your questions on Self Assessment tax returns as the deadline approaches.

....was supposed to be a guide for self employed people such as myself. The two 'guests', one from HMRC, were pleasant, charming even, but little of the sheer awfulness of dealing with, or even contacting HMRC was mentioned. I feel the programme was a bit skewed towards THEM and not to US!

The presenter asked for suggestions for a short musical coda to the programme. Needless to say it wasn't 'classical'.

    Any suggestions from Forumistas?

Dido's Lament comes immediately to mind, though I hate to equate such exquisite grief to ******* ***** grief!

A blast of Verdi's setting of Dies irae suited my feelings when I was facing that task before Christmas. LvB "Rage over a lost penny" also seems appropriate...

In the unfortunate event of it happening I will hear the HMRC guitar riff hold music in Hell. The prospect has created a firm resolve to lead a better life.
