    River people?

Have the River People reverted back to the nonsense of blocking Visa cards as a means of payment again this year?

I know not everyone approves of the RP, but for us it is a lifeline, providing service where others do not.

I went round a loop last year of trying to set up different payments for Prime, but I notice that I now have messages telling me there's something wrong. There is nothing wrong with the credit card, or the details that the RP have, so I wonder if that Visa issue has returned to bite us yet again. It is still working fine for most purchases - but may not work for the Prime subscription.

Was it not just Visa (UK) last time?

Edit: Can't find any reference to a reintroduction of the ban.

In that case there are strange things going on. I know there are scams which look like Amazon notification, but this one does appear when I log in so presumed genuine, and does seem to want me to update or change my CC.

When I checked it looked as though the details of the one I already use are in order, so I don't know what the problem is.

        More investigation required.

I think it ceases to be a problem for Dave at that point...
I couldn't find (and haven't seen) any reference to a recurrence of the original issue, and some who were complaining on one forum were told to contact their bank as they were using debit cards, which sometimes get blocked by the bank(insufficient balance, fraud and suchlike), but not by Amazon. As you are using a credit card that specific issue wouldn't apply though.

I don't know what is going on, unless Amazon uses a different card for taking the Prime recurring annual payment. I am trying not to do anything to the account, just in case there is a scam going on. The message I can see seems like a warning of possible problems, rather than one which might need immediate attention. However the date for payment is coming up, so I'll have to see if Prime continues to function, and if not, then take further action.

The card I can see which am.uk know about seems OK and in date on that web site, so I'm very uninclined to provide details of any more cards for the time being.

In the meantime I'm still very cross about the lousy service from medici.tv - and the not so helpful comment from my bank. It should not be possible for companies to simply roll over subscription services if the cards are out of date, and banks should not pay out. A decent company [i.e. not medici.tv] would at least have offered me a refund, instead of offering me a completely insulting reduction for the future.

This kind of problem is going to continue to be an issue as more and more services go online, and companies try to shift their business online and to subscription models. This affects other services, such as newspapers and magazines.

The issue of expired cards and transactions such as subscriptions is a rather knotty one, and doesn't make sense to those on the receiving end. I have seen a good few complaints/queries on consumer forums. A couple of links that might explain, although that won't make you feel any better necessarily!

Some subscriptions set to your credit cards, such as newspaper or magazine subscriptions, may continue to go through for a few months after the expiration date. Don't be surprised if you receive a call or email from the service provider asking you to update your card's expiration date to keep your subscription active.

Strange things do seem to be happening right now. Last week I received an email purporting to come frome Pime-GBVideo to review the annual £60 sub I don't have with whoever they are. Googling only came up with Prime Video as connected to Amazon, with whom I have and never have had any subscription - which is why I raise it here. Somebody seems to be muscling in. As yet no deductions have occurred from unknown sources. Needless to say, nevertheless, I did not click on the Cancel and Refund bottom of the message option.

Every now and again I get a recorded message telling me my Amazon Prime subscription is about to/has expired, with request to use option one to pay.
I have never had any form of ongoing arrangement - account or subscription - with Amazon, and my last encounter was more than 10 years ago. Either they have kept my details from that (which is illegal give the time elapsed) or it's just the usual ringing random numbers scam, which has nothing to do with Amazon. I am pretty certain it's the latter.

                      That's the same, I think.
