The sun is now setting later, but for the rest of this month, it’s rising later too, so the day length hardly changes until January.
Indeed the start and end times shift, but the day length does increase steadily but slowly at first.

Seeing the sun setting between the trilothons is magical. There was a good break in the clouds for about 15 mins today, which made for a good photo opportunity.
Great photo from a local, ts. Beautifully atmospheric!

I Can't quite distinguish which birds are perching on top of the stones. I would guess rooks or jacksaws.

Unprecedented crowds there at sunrise yesterday, apparently.

Jackdaws and rooks are all members of the corvid genus, along with crows, of course.

Yes, the rule of thumb regarding rook and crow social behaviour is not particularly reliable, that's true. However. none of the birds I could make out had quite the jizz of a crow.

We popped back to Stonehenge after xmas to have another go.
The weather under performed the forecast, but we again got a brief spell of clear weather at the important time. I’ll pop a photo on later.

Wow for those photos, TS - thanks!

(The saracen in the foreground of No 2 makes for a great composition).
