People often sit there reading or socialising over a cup of coffee, though it can get very noisy as staff move the trollies.
Ah that explains it. My Waitrose is a single storey standalone out of town set-up with the cafe at one end next to the entrance.

It always surprised me that if one opted for tea, one got Twinings, rather than Waitrose's own brand which I, along with Good Housekeeping magazine, happen to prefer when it comes to Earl Grey. A pity they have not also reinstated the free newspapers. Still, beggars can't be choosers, I suppose.

Waitrose Marquess Grey would my preferred brew for a free cuppa.

Mrs CS does the shopping here, except for tea and coffee (and cheese for the board). I've surveyed the field of Earl Grey brands sufficiently, but not exhaustively, to the point that for my taste, Waitrose Earl Grey isn't bettered. I make a particular journey to the nearest Waitrose to secure it. Reassuring that Good Housekeeping Magazine agrees - I don't need to have a niggling doubt that there might be something better out there.

Actually, there was a near tie between the Waitrose and Fortnum and Mason. Twinings was dismissed as not being an Earl Grey at all. The teas used in what Twinings call Earl Grey include Darjeeling and Ceylon, which lend it too strong a flavour, in addition to three China black teas.

I well remember a friend (who may well be reading this) exclaiming to a friend at university when offered Earl Grey 'good god Dennis it's Twinings' to be then told he should drink Jacksons.

There will be something different, but as to whether it's better that depends on whether you prefer it, doesn't it?
My local purveyor of teas and coffees has 4 Earl Grey blends, including their own take on Twinings Lady Grey; my preference is for their blend that has passionfruit oil and blossoms.
This, from Wiki, doesn't appeal though
A beverage called "London fog" is a combination of Earl Grey, steamed milk and vanilla syrup.
Regardless of what the tea is I find that too much doesn't suit, although green teas are least troublesome to my gut and less likely to send the kidneys into overdrive. It's a reason I don't use tea as a way of keeping warm - frequent trips to the coldest part(by some margin) of the house are counterproductive!

This is the reason I knocked caffeine completely on the head!

Yes, happens to me as well but I do enjoy my tea and coffee and I'm prepared to accept that particular downside.

Yes, every house should have an indoors toilet. 3-4 cups of black coffee for me each day. And the odd cup of herbal tea in between.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Well, they sort of have. There is a week's worth of papers in the vouchers on the app/website, but they aren't in the same place as the week's food etc. vouchers. Took me ages to spot them. However, you don't get a choice any more: the weekend ones are for whatever you used to buy at the weekend, and the weekday ones whatever you used to buy midweek. Two different things, in my case.
