    Desmond Tutu 1931 - 2021

Archbishop Desmond Tutu has died at the age of 90.

I had the privilege of playing for him back in 2008 when he accepted an honorary degree from Edinburgh University. He told a very amusing story of how he had chastised Nelson Mandela for wearing such brightly coloured shirts only to be be told ‘You think I’m going to take fashion advice from a man wearing a dress?’

I later bumped into him in the loo, (I have a habit of bumping into the (male!) great and the good in the toilet) and I had the honour of shaking hands with him. He was able to tell exactly what pieces we’d been playing.

    Very sad news.

    RIP Archbishop Tutu.

A voice of reason, I always thought, at a very difficult time in his country's history.

      Rest in Peace, Archbishop.

I may not have agreed with your creed, but I believed in your heart.

A friend sent me this link today to a piece about Desmond Tutu, which seemed to speak volumes about the great man:
I first met with the Arch 35 years ago. He had recently received the Nobel Peace Prize, was currently Bishop of Joburg and was on his way to Cape Town to become Archbishop later that year. We met in...

Some very strong points on a not unrelated subject have been raised here, in my opinion:
