      Holding a grudge I would think .
Looking forward to seeing our “ better than JWP “ dead ball expert.

I wonder who it is ?

Yes, glad I wasn't drinking anything when the punditmuppet said that.

Maybe we'll get lucky with dead balls and dodgy defending both in the same game.

I didnt hear that said. Commentary is off hereabouts.....

I wish there was a red button “ David Coleman” style commentary........

          ( psychobabble not required).

Mind you big Dave Merrington would be a great addition to the team. Probably not “on message” enough, I suspect.......

The BBC promises us over 350 hours' TV coverage of the Olympics - whoopee!!
I hear that on occasion The Games may feature simultaneously on BBC1, BBC2, BBC4, Radio 5 Live and Radio 5 Sports Extra.
Let's hope World War III doesn't start any time soon.

They'll probably have it on ten red button channels as well, as they have done for the last 2 Olympics, so you can watch every minute of every event should you be so inclined.

(Actually the red button coverage is much better than that shown on BBC1 or BBC2, as you get to see the actual events unencumbered by hours of pundits chatting to each other and the incessant replays of films about British competitors' life stories).
"I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone. The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

Le Grand Depart this weekend takes me on the couch from Brest to Landernau as we head across France on a three-week outing. Looks quite open this year and looking forward to seeing last year's winner Tadej Pogacar again; but there's a few fine Brits in there too.

One wonders - well, I wonder - why the red button was not used to share Euros 2020 coverage with BBC1. We shall very probably use it during Wimbledon.

Operation London Bridge might just over-ride the sport?
I suppose the justification for the total blanket approach for the sport is that there are different things being shown, so there is "choice" available to the viewing public. Except if sport is of no interest - but I suspect the view there is that such individuals are beyond hope so don't count...
I should perhaps clarify that I'm not in the "shouldn't disrupt normal service" camp. I would rather it didn't seem so ubiquitous but accept that there is a reason for it at the moment. Just sometimes wish there was a bit more even-handedness with other important events that aren't sport, such as international music competitions...

One hopes that Messrs Witchell and Dymond will have retired before it happens and that all communications with their predecessors are down.

Hoping G can pull off a few tricks like he did on stage 5 of the Dauphine last month to hold off the electric finish of Sonny Colbrelli, gradus.

Classic start to Le Tour - stupid spectator causing big crash, and then another big crash, and an amazing finish...if the other twenty stages are anything like today we're in for a treat.

Three amazing stages in three days. There's nothing quite like Le Tour!
