Absolutely breathtaking women's tennis on Court 2 this afternoon. The Kerber v. Tormo match. It could have gone either way (I won't do a spoiler) but
I don't think I've ever seen such a brilliant (and exhausting) 3 setter.

What a Wimbledon it's turning out to be, with plenty of thrills and even more spills. I shall have to get my EI* checked before Andy's next appearance - it hit 98.2267% the other evening, which is bordering on the dangerous. Three Brits into the 3rd round for the first time in ages, and good news from 'Le Tour' and the T20 series. Let's hope these stirring deeds of derring-do inspire any other British teams that may be involved in seasonal sporting endeavour, eh?

I've tended to ignore the ladies' singles over the years, but I caught the last few minutes of her latest match and she has rekindled my interest. On a more personal note, the combination of her reference to laundry and the forecast of showers powered my determination to having the washing out on the line before 7.00 a.m. and before my first coffee of the day.

The look on the faces as Pogacar sailed past were looks of disbelief and awe, gurney. Amazing performance. The crashes have clearly taken their toll on Roglic and Thomas, but the whole day just looked like a different way of racing from what we've been watching these last years - a great week of racing.

I haven't been following this tour for reasons already documented but it is worth looking at the power output and w/kg stats if you haven't already done so. I'm thinking of Armstrong's, Ullrich's and others over the years. At the time we were told they were clean and they "passed" all the tests (although in Armstrong's case the results were suppressed or connived at depending on your POV).
Some performances really do defy belief in what is humanly possible without outside agency.

Niggling doubts will always linger. So disappointing if justified. Let's hope not. And disappointing if we already know the race winner.

The Aussie threw a new iron into the fire yesterday, gurney, in appalling conditions once again. Good to see that Gerraint seemed to have recovered a bit. Cav looked mightily relieved to get to the top just in time, thanks to his team mates - cue more emotion. They'll all enjoy the day out of the saddle today, I reckon.

I've enjoyed every moment so far especially Cav's triumphant return.
Tremendous performances uphill seem to characterise the race so far coupled with extraordinary descending on lethal wet roads. Let's hope that everything is as 'kosher' as it should be.

Great win for O'connor. Pog did set off and gain two minutes on the last climb.

With a snmallish TV (let's get things in proportion) and poorish eyesight, I do struggle with identifyiing tennis players on court by their names. They seem totally unrelated to their nationalities. One wonders if Dan Evans had chosen Putschover, Nettacautalotti or something similar, he may have got onto further rounds. I know...Evantheheadbandandlogosareidentical might have worked?

A lad at work has got tickets for Centre Court tomorrow , and is hoping to see Big Rog. Apparently.

Well it will be a nice change from watching Bristol City, his preferred saturday afternoon activity.
