Agreed - why not Strauss? Puzzling?

I believe that Strauss has made it clear for some time that, following the death of his wife, his priority is looking after his children. This would militate against his taking up a long-term, full time position.

This is not to disagree with the underlying points made about the structural problems with first-class cricket in England.

I agree with all of that. I can’t see a thread for boarders playing cricket so will just observe here after today’s first outing of the season that I still consider it the best way to spend the afternoon, and that the mental health benefits of being outdoors with friends vastly outweigh the physical challenges (this is my team’s 29th season).

Excellent: hope the weather was on your side. It's a long time since I played cricket on April and I seem to remember that it was hard work.
