On reflection, absent the lack of advance notice, this is the sort of programming I would like more of on R3: excellent performances of varied works, with very brief, non-showy (gushy) annoucemnents. (Cf RAI3, ORF et al.)

It might not be "proper" TTN, but at least the recent Saturday early morning aberrations have been suspended - perhaps there is someone with a braincell at work after all? Probably just as well that Tearjerker had finished its run...

I don’t watch television and rarely even listen to the radio but I would’ve thought R3 would stick to its scheduled programming.

I also disapproved of the way schedules were chopped and changed after 11/9.

I was not expecting to gain many worthwhile new insights from the impending blanket coverage. It would have been good you see him make 100. Hard to understand why Radio 3 should get neutered on Saturday. According to Sounds, R4 and Five Live have their normal Saturday schedule.

At least Composer of the Week was a repeat. Tomorrow's lost broadcasting would not, in the main, have been. To make it worse, it looks like the current replacement Radio 3 transmissions will not be available on-demand via Sounds, later.

I'd like to think that other news has been covered, but listening on and off to the radio output since just after midday, I've heard nothing about anything else in the UK or abroad.

The coverage of his life and achievements, not least the D of E Awards, has been interesting and informative if perhaps a little unrelenting but there is always the off-switch and programmes removed from the schedule can be carried forward.

Nothing happened today on the Covid front, apparently. Heartening to see that, despite the suspension of BBC4 programmes, the live coverage of international women's football went ahead on the iPlayer and the red button.

My condolences to his family and friends but the BBC is conducting itself in an absurd manner - we have not had wall to wall coverage on BBC1 and 2 a d BBc4 suspended for the 126,000 plus dead from Covid .
