The Duke never seemed to revel in fuss and nonsense so perhaps he had just had enough, and thought - small funeral, I've had enough ***dy birthdays, Harry and that Missus of his might have to stay stateside.....time to give up the struggle.......

I can arrange my own listening material for 24 hours and as for TV, well we have the streaming option.

Looks like R3 is simulcasting the news special for the next few hours...

Just checked Listen Live. Not even funeral music
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Just looking at the R3 website - it seems the schedule resumes tomorrow at 06.00 with Happy Harmonies (see Tearjerker thread)

I’m amazed all the main TV stations & radio stations are 100% ‘news special’ till at least midnight

            I find it bizarre

(Radio 1 & 2 are boogying on as usual though )
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

It may have seemed so, but I have just heard him reveal in an interview that, as an outsider, he hadn’t got a clue, he didn’t receive any advice and so had to learn by trial and error - clearly a quick and astute learner.

Just as well I'd pre-planned my viewing for this evening to be on Talking Pictures TV, then.

Classic FM and Scala Radio are both playing classical music.

Long ago (1992) gave up on Radio 3, but I'm sad that it is carrying the "national news programme" rather than playing music. I wonder how many people will take refuge in Classic FM or Scala, both of whom are managing to play suitable music.

I seem to remember that on the day of Princess Diana's death there was a sequence of appropriate music on a national combined BBC programme, at least for some of the time. ....?

A shame that the BBC can't provide an alternative to all this relentless chatter......

Oh well, back to MDR Klassik on satellite.

Yes I wouldn’t have been watching or listening anyway but it’s interesting/surprising

Well in that case he had the style to get away with it for years!

When I switched on, all BBC Radio Channels were playing in unison, including those two.

Only Channel 4, of the main TV stations, is rebelling.

Oh! I was just going by the BBC Sounds schedules...
