A good move. Petroc mentioned in his excellent piece for Radio Times that nobody is in the Radio 3 bit of Broadcasting House anyway.
I'm not sure about the Proms moving some concerts away from RAH as creating the Proms audience elsewhere on one offs seems a hard ask. The BBC CO perhaps to the East Midlands and East Anglia where there isn't a large full time orchestra.

... yes indeedy - this whole notion of a 'move' of staff surely now looks pretty antiquated in a covid and post-covid world. Everyone can stay where they like and broadcast to the world therefrom...

I doubt it. Won’t a middle-aged white male broadcasting from Sussex be anathema under the New Rules? Ditto AMcG in south Lunnun.

It was always 'understood' that 6 Music was the digital sister station of Radio 2, but now it can be Radio 3's very own digital sister station and share more of its presenters with R3. Can't see Petroc giving up his early morning stroll across Regents Park from Camden Town to the BBC (one of the nicest parts of London), for a journey of several hours to Manchester.

As regards the experiment of trying local presenters for Radio 3, well we already have that Saturday morning 5am - 9am. BBC Sounds....

BBCCO in East Anglia would be a nice idea. Sadly Norwich doesn't have a concert hall as such, although perhaps the Theatre Royal, which has been the subject of recent major improvement works would do. This https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._An..._Hall,_Norwich is a wonderful building which is used for very many concerts but it does have its limitations, such as sound averse neighbours. The city isn't as much of a cultural wasteland as outsiders seem to think.
If that's too far the RPO had several happy residencies in Lowestoft so that might work if they aren't going back? Suffolk isn't too far away from London...
