    Contacting Apple App store

I just downloaded a "trial" version of an app to my iPad. It is truly dreadful, but it comes with a subscription - which will auto renew in 3 days! £58.

This not a proper trial - as one has to agree to this even in order to get basic functionality, which isn't good anyway.

I want to cancel that immediately. How do I contact Apple? I can see the app store for MacOS purchases on the desktop machines, but not the iOS apps.

The apps on our iMacs seem to be different, so how do I do this from an iPad?

This is ruining my day - yuk!

I might be misunderstanding, but why are you trying to contact Apple?
If I had a free trial subscription to The Times or Naked Wine, say, that I didn't want to continue with, I'd contact them directly through the account I would have had to set up.

It's because purchases done through Apple's walled garden ensures that they get their cut. It also means that your 'contract' is with them.

          Ah: thanks for the explanation.
Yes: I was being a bit dim.

It used to be the case that one could see all previoius purchases in iTunes under Purchases, but now the interface has been "updated", and .... expletive deleted .... how is one to find out where things are managed. The iOS interface is also different from the desktop App interface.

In the past it was quite easy to query things, and get subscriptions cancelled - or at least it was possible. Now I don't even see where to look.

              Try this?

Other suggestions/websites appeared when I searched 'cancel ipad app subscription' if no joy with that advice.

                Phew....

I found an 0800 number - 0800 048 0408 and had it sorted (hopefully) within 10 minutes or so.

Basically the process on iOS tablets now seems to be:

                1. Go into Settings.

                2. This bit isn't obvious ...!!! Click on one's name.

                3. This brings up account details.

                4. ... in this case then go to Subscriptions ... which brings up ...

                5. ....a very long list of possible charged for subscriptions.

                6. Right at the bottom of the list there is the Trial Subscription, so cancel it there.

The very helpful Apple agent then checked that it had been cancelled. I shall not renew it.

The app was called CamScanner and I noted that someone else had also had a previous problem.

Hopefully that has now been taken care of. In the past that kind of thing was done through the iTunes interface.

Thanks pulcie - the process you mentioned seems similar to the one I outlined above - which I actually did.

Anastasius - yes - it is in Settings - but it's not obvious unless you know it's there! You have to know to click on one's name inside that screen.
